Personalised gift for a 1-year-old: a book with their little face
A first birthday is one of those days you want to hold on to. A book in which the baby appears with their own face and name on every page is a gift to read to them now, and for them to find again many years from now.

Why a book makes a good first birthday present
In their first year babies pay huge attention to faces, recognise the ones at home and love being read to out loud. A book with short lines, rhymes and their very own face makes the most of exactly that: it is cuddle time, not screen time.
And for the family it is a keepsake of this stage: what their face looked like when they turned one. That is why it is so often a gift from grandparents or godparents.
Two books made for babies aged 0 to 1
The Day You Arrived is a story in verse about how everyone was waiting for the baby. It is illustrated in felt and wool, in soft colours, and their face and name appear on every page.
The Arms That Rock You is the story of Mama and her baby: the lullaby, bath time, being held. Both of them appear, each with their own face. If it is a gift for a mum, it is usually very moving.

If the little one is already 2 or older, have a look at what to give a 2-year-old too.
Which baby photo works best
- Their face looking straight at the camera, or nearly, with eyes open.
- Good light: daytime is best, close to a window.
- No hat or hood covering their hair.
- They can be in someone's arms: you pick the baby in the photo. For the book with Mama in it, a photo of the two of them together is fine.
Before you pay you see the cover with their face; if you're not happy with it, just change the photo and try another. There are more details in personalised book with a photo.

Frequently asked questions
Does it make sense for a 1-year-old?
Yes. At this age they won't read it on their own, but they love being read to and recognising faces. It is designed for babies aged 0 to 1.
What if the baby is under 6 months?
You can still make it: the cover is a rough guide. From 6 months on, the likeness is much better.
Can I give it to my grandson or my niece?
Of course. Ask the parents for a clear photo of the baby and create the book; before you pay you see the cover for free.
Is the book sturdy?
It is a hardback, printed to order. If it arrives damaged, we reprint it and send it to you at no cost.
