Pixastory or IrayaBooks: what you really pay for a book with their face
On Pixastory's product page the book costs €39.90; on ours, €39.99. Almost the same. But between the product page and the payment, formats, extras and delivery charges turn up and change the sum. On 8 October 2026 we went through its website with a photo of Hugo, aged 8, to put together an ordinary order and see what lies behind every euro.

The road to the price on Pixastory
You choose one of its twelve themes and give the name, boy or girl, age and eye colour. Then you upload the photo and mark which face is your child's. The website promises the preview in about 30 seconds; it took us about 45, with a percentage ticking up and customer reviews to pass the time. At the end it shows one page which, according to its website, is “one of the more than 150” it creates for the book and which its team checks by hand.
Next comes the format. The 30 × 30 cm one carries the label “most chosen” and costs €49.90; the 20 × 20 cm one, €39.90, the price on the product page (crossed out from €49.90). Both are hardback and the book has 40 pages. At the next step two extras appear at €5 each: the dedication, with the note “80% choose this option”, and a hero certificate with a family photo on the last page. It also offers optional priority processing, and delivery is free from two books.

What you get for that money
Pixastory delivers a longer book and, if you choose the large one, a bigger one. Hugo's face was recognisable, but it came out small and with a finish halfway between photo and drawing, which they call “photorealistic representation”. Before paying you see one page; you don't see the cover.
For €39.99, with us you get:
- Their finished cover before paying, free and within a couple of minutes.
- A story written and illustrated in advance in which only your child changes: dinosaurs, superhero, socks… and also for two siblings or a mum and her baby.
- The dedication, up to 140 characters, at no extra cost.
- A hand check of the whole book and, if you don't like how it's turned out, we redo it for free, once.
- Five languages: Spanish, Catalan, Basque, Galician or English. Pixastory prints it in Spanish, German, French or Dutch.
- An exact delivery date before you pay (Pixastory gives one too); ours arrives in 7 to 9 working days.

When each one is worth it
If you want a large 30 × 30 book or you're going to buy several at once, Pixastory's bundles may work out cheaper. If what you want is a story with your child drawn into every scene, to see it before paying and no extras springing up at the end, the sums come out in favour of IrayaBooks.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a Pixastory book really cost?
On 8 October 2026, €39.90 for the 20 × 20 and €49.90 for the 30 × 30, plus €5 for the dedication and another €5 for the hero certificate if you add them. Delivery is free from two books.
Do you have to pay for the dedication at IrayaBooks?
No. You write it yourself before paying, up to 140 characters, and it's printed at the start of the book with the year.
Which one shows more before you pay?
Pixastory shows an inside page; we show the finished cover with their face and name. Both are a sample; the difference is that ours is the cover you'll receive, and the inside comes from illustrations that have already been approved.
Do both check the book by hand?
Yes, both say so. Pixastory checks every image by hand, according to its website; we go through the whole book before sending it to print, and until then you can ask us to redo it.
